Following the collision, one of the buses was severely mangled, while the other veered off the road and fell into a roadside ditch.
Among the injured were bus driver Mizanur Rahman (48), a resident of Kishoreganj Sadar, and helper Seku Mia (44) from Mohanganj upazila of Netrokona. Fire service personnel cut through the bus wreckage to rescue them.
In addition, at least 15 to 20 passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries. Several of the injured were transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Khan Alam Khan, Senior Station Officer of Netrokona Fire Service, stated that a bus from Kolmakanda carrying around 30 passengers was heading toward Netrokona when it collided head-on with another bus coming from Chattogram en route to Dharmapasha. Two fire service units responded promptly and conducted rescue operations at the scene.
Eyewitness Mahbub Hossain said that passengers helped each other escape from the wreckage. Most of them managed to get out of the buses before the arrival of rescue services.
