25-kg Pangas Fish Caught in Padma River, Sold for Tk 57,500

A giant 25-kg pangas fish was caught in the Padma River near the Daulatdia Ferry Ghat area in Goaland Upazila of Rajbari district on Friday morning. The fish was purchased at an auction by local trader Md. Shahjahan Sheikh for Tk 2,300 per kilogram, totaling Tk 57,500.

According to sources, a fisherman named Bacchu Halder, along with his team, cast nets in the Padma River on Thursday night. In the early hours of Friday, they were able to catch the massive pangas fish.

The fish was brought to a local fish market for auction on Friday morning, where Shahjahan Sheikh won the bid.

Md. Shahjahan Sheikh, a fish trader from the Shakil Sohan Fish Depot, said, "I bought the 25-kg pangas fish for Tk 57,500 at the auction. Later, I sold it to another trader at a small profit after negotiating with buyers from various places."

The catch has drawn attention in the local area, with many expressing excitement over the rare size of the fish.
