Bangladesh Army Busts Illegal Arms Factory in Sitakunda Jungle, 4 Arrested

 The Bangladesh Army uncovered an illegal arms manufacturing factory in the jungle of Chhinnamul area, Salimspur Union, Sitakunda Upazila, Chittagong. On Saturday (August 30), based on specific intelligence, a special operation led to the recovery of six homemade weapons and various arms-making equipment, with four individuals arrested in connection to the incident.

The arrested individuals are:

  • Kamrul Hasan Redowan (35), son of Foyez Ahmad from Chanua village, Banshkhali Upazila

  • Roman (25), son of Nur Alam from Fakirjhum area, Moheshkhali Upazila, Cox’s Bazar

  • Ashik (35), son of Mohammad Morshed from Jungle Salimspur No. 4 Samaj, Sitakunda

  • Amir Islam (40), son of Joynal Abedin from Hatiya Upazila, Noakhali

According to the Bangladesh Army, the operation targeted a clandestine arms factory. The recovered items include:

  • 6 homemade firearms

  • 35 rounds of empty cartridges

  • 5 rounds of live cartridges

  • 1 Chinese axe

  • 20 knives

  • 2 walkie-talkie chargers

  • 1 megaphone

  • 4 parachute flares

  • Various arms-making tools and equipment

The arrested individuals are being handed over to the Sitakunda Model Police Station. The Officer-in-Charge (Acting) of the station, Mujibur Rahman, confirmed the incident and stated that legal actions are being taken.
